Business & Corporate LawAlexander J. MacKillop is the managing partner of MacKillop Pictou Law Group, which he opened in Halifax with his partner in 2018. Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Criminology from Saint Mary's University in 2011 and his law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2016. Before opening his own firm, he interned with the Public Prosecution Service and worked for the Federal Department of Justice in tax and civil litigation. Alexander maintains a general practice focused on criminal law, litigating regularly in Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, with experience before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal and as part of a three-lawyer team that appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada; he also practises corporate, commercial, and business law. He is a board member of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, the Nova Scotia Criminal Lawyers' Association, the Dalhousie Law Alumni Association, and the Dalhousie Pro-Bono Committee, and previously co-chaired the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society Racial Equity Committee.
