About A.W.

A.W. (Al) McGarvey earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of British Columbia in 1977 and a law degree from the University of Windsor in 1980, and was called to the bar in 1984. He has since practised criminal defence and personal injury law on Vancouver Island, including a period as an ad hoc Crown prosecutor from 1987 to 1994, and has appeared before the Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal of British Columbia. He is a long-time member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of British Columbia, a founding member of the North Island Criminal Lawyers Association, and a Benefactor Level member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.
