About Sharma Lawyers

Sharma Lawyers is a small business, real estate, and health law practice in Vaughan, Ontario. Devi Dayal Sharma founded the firm after immigrating to Canada from Amritsar, India in 1975 along with spouse Achla and their three children. Before qualifying as a lawyer in Ontario, Devi Dayal Sharma ran a real estate conveyancing business with Achla, then earned NCA accreditation from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994. Devi Dayal Sharma practiced real estate and corporate law at the firm for decades, until passing away in 2020.

The firm is now led by Rajiv Sharma, who was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999 and holds an LL.B from Osgoode Hall Law School, an M.Sc in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a B.A. (Hons.) from York University. Before joining the firm, Rajiv Sharma worked for the Ontario government, practiced at a Bay Street national firm, and served as senior corporate counsel and general counsel for two global corporations, background that now grounds the firm's health and regulatory law work. Its client list has included a retired Prime Minister of Canada, government bodies, and multinational corporations alongside small business owners, and Rajiv Sharma has also taught international business law at Ryerson University since 2014.
