About Devi

Devi Dayal Sharma (1935-2020) founded Sharma Lawyers. Born in India, he studied law at the Law College in Jalandhar, Punjab University, and was admitted to the Bar Council of Punjab and received his Certificate of Enrollment in 1962. In 1975 he immigrated to Canada from Amritsar with his wife and three children, and for a time he and his wife Achla ran a real estate conveyancing business. He went on to requalify as a lawyer in Ontario, receiving accreditation through the National Committee on Accreditation at Osgoode Hall Law School and being called to the Ontario bar in 1994. For several decades he practised real estate and corporate law at the firm he founded, and his wife Achla continues to work there today.
