About Harte Law

Harte Law is a Richmond Hill law firm that focuses exclusively on medical malpractice and medical negligence claims, representing clients across the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario and Canada rather than taking on general personal injury work. Its office at 30-16 Sims Crescent is the firm's only location, and its lawyers often act as co-counsel to other personal injury firms on medical files. The team includes trial lawyers supported by an in-house nurse and physician who help evaluate the medical side of a claim.

Founder Paul Harte was called to the Ontario bar in 1994 and is a Law Society of Ontario Certified Specialist in both Health Law and Civil Litigation, with a career that has included the Wilson Hepatitis B Class Action and lead counsel work in D.P. v. Wagg. Two of the firm's other senior lawyers have each practiced there for more than twenty and twenty five years, and its newest lawyer, Joshua Harte, was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024. Harte Law works on a contingency basis, typically between 25 and 40 percent of what it recovers, and points to more than $1 billion recovered for clients over its history, including eight-figure judgments such as the $12,350,000 judgment in Brown v. Meaney and the $12,200,000 judgment in Gumbley v. Vasiliou. (Fees as of September 2026.)
