Deutschmann de Koning Law is a Kitchener firm whose lawyers practise almost exclusively in personal injury and disability law. There's no charge for the first consultation, and no fees are owed until a case settles. Rob Deutschmann is its founding partner.

Rob Deutschmann earned a business degree at Wilfrid Laurier University and spent five years in private industry before law school, graduating with distinction from the University of Western Ontario in 1993. Nick de Koning built a personal injury background at Miller Thomson, where the job was defending claims against auto insurers and against life and health insurers. Alexander David, who holds science and arts degrees from the University of Waterloo, was a Waterloo Regional Police constable for five years, then articled with this firm and was called to the bar in 2023.
You can meet the team at the head office at 2263 Kingsway Drive in Kitchener or at consultation offices on Shearson Crescent in Cambridge and on Peel Street in Woodstock. Meetings in Brantford, Stratford and Guelph are available by appointment.

History
Rob Deutschmann was called to the bar on February 14, 1995, and began practising law that day. 2025 was the firm's 30th anniversary year.
Nick de Koning joined Rob Deutschmann in 2018 from Miller Thomson, having started there in 2002 and made partner in 2009. On March 3, 2025 the firm announced its new name, Deutschmann de Koning Law, a rebrand that reflects its growth and the contributions of Nick de Koning, a partner since March 2024.

Morrissey v. Wawanesa Insurance Company, 2024 ONCA 602
Nicholaus de Koning appeared for the appellant, Steven Morrissey. The court allowed the appeal, set aside the Divisional Court's order, and held that the appellant's attendant care claim under the 1996 Schedule isn't subject to the 2010 Schedule's definition of "incurred".

The neighbourhood
By the end of January 2019 the firm's office was set to move into the old Harley Davidson building on Kingsway Drive in Kitchener, and the team looked forward to becoming part of the Kingsdale community. Kingsdale started out as a frontier neighbourhood at the city limits and has since become an inner city suburb, and the sweet smell in the air comes from the Dare Foods cookie factory.
Kingsway Drive also runs along the north side of the CF Fairview Park mall. Fairway station, just west of the mall, is where many Grand River Transit bus routes end and where the Ion rapid transit line has its southern terminal.
