About Wright Business Law

Wright Business Law is a Toronto securities and corporate law practice focused on private investment funds and the exempt market. Principal counsel Nicholas dePencier Wright has practised law since 2009 and holds a J.D. and MBA from Dalhousie University, an LL.M. in taxation from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a diploma in trusts and estates from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Wright is licensed to practise in Ontario, Texas, and (inactive) California, and is a member of the Private Capital Markets Association. Wright also writes as a columnist on securities regulation for the industry publications Advisor.ca and Investment Executive.

The firm structures private funds as limited partnerships, mutual fund trusts, real estate investment trusts, and mortgage investment corporations, and prepares the offering memoranda that go with them. It also advises exempt market dealers and fund managers on registration and compliance, and coordinates cross border filings for sponsors raising capital from Canadian and U.S. investors. Of counsel Vibhu Sharma focuses on regulatory disputes and enforcement, representing clients before the Ontario Securities Commission and other tribunals. Sharma is dual qualified in Canada and India, admitted to the Law Society of Ontario and the Bar Council of India, and before relocating to Canada practised at a law firm in India and worked at the Centre for International Law in Singapore.
