About NULaw

NULaw is a small family, estates and litigation firm on Davenport Road in midtown Toronto, with a history that goes back to 1953. Colonel Sydney Frost, a decorated Second World War veteran who served with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and was later appointed Queen's Counsel, opened the original practice that year. Alan Redway joined in 1966 to form Frost and Redway, and the firm kept growing and changing its name over the decades, becoming Redway and Roherty after Redway's 1984 election to Parliament, then Redway and Butler when Peter Butler joined in 1987. It was rebranded NULaw in 2010 under David "Lex" Arbesman.

Today the firm concentrates on family law, wills, estates and trusts, and estate litigation, with related business, employment and real estate work available to existing clients. It describes itself as deliberately taking on fewer files so the same lawyer can handle a matter from start to finish rather than passing it between staff. Arbesman, who trained at Dalhousie's law school and articled at Flemingdon Community Legal Services, has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada guide for Trusts and Estates in Toronto since 2025.
