About Gale Law

Gale Law Professional Corporation is a small Toronto estate litigation firm founded by Kim Gale in January 2019. Gale studied law at City, University of London in the UK, worked as a paralegal at Norton Rose Fulbright's London office, then returned to Toronto in 2016 to article at Socken Law while developing litigation experience in estate and commercial matters at another firm. Gale was called to the Ontario bar in January 2018 and launched an independent practice the following year.

The firm concentrates on estate litigation, including will challenges, power of attorney and guardianship disputes, capacity claims, dependent support claims, estate administration, probate applications, and cases involving elder abuse or financial exploitation. It also runs a separate mediation practice, Gale Mediation, led by Kim Gale, who holds an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School. Gale chairs the Ontario Bar Association's Elder Law Section for the 2025 to 2026 term and co-founded Collaborative Practice Estates and Trusts, an interdisciplinary group under the Ontario Association of Collaborative Professionals and the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. The firm keeps two Toronto offices, one downtown on Bay Street and one in North York on Bathurst Street, with a senior associate, a paralegal, and a business manager rounding out the team.

The neighbourhood

Gale Law's downtown office is in the Permanent building at 320 Bay Street, an 18 storey Art Deco tower built between 1928 and 1931 at Bay and Adelaide as the headquarters of the Canada Permanent Trust Company. It was designed by architect Henry Sproatt, was Toronto's tallest building when it opened, and sits in the heart of the city's Financial Core.

The firm's North York office on Bathurst Street sits across from Baycrest, a research and teaching hospital that describes itself as a global leader in aging and brain health. That location suits a firm built around elder law: Kim Gale sits on Baycrest Foundation's Professional Advisors Committee, and a member of the firm has ridden in the Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health fundraiser.
