About Lokun Law

Lokun Law is a solo, full service practice run by Daniel Lokun out of the Jane Bloor Centre at 2 Jane Street in Toronto's Bloor West Village. Lokun earned a B.A. in History from the University of Toronto in 1994, then a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 1996, and was admitted to the Ontario bar that February. The practice covers real estate, wills and estate planning, criminal defence, personal injury, commercial and business law, family law, administrative law, and notary services, so a single client relationship can often cover more than one kind of matter.

Court and tribunal work has taken the practice before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Small Claims Court, various administrative tribunals, and the Toronto District School Board, spanning civil litigation, estate litigation, criminal defence, and administrative law. The office is accessible to people with disabilities, after hours appointments are available on request, and legal services are offered in Portuguese in addition to English.

The neighbourhood

The firm's office sits at Jane and Bloor in Bloor West Village, a Toronto retail strip that became Canada's first Business Improvement Area in 1970 after local merchants organized to keep the street busy once the Bloor-Danforth subway pulled foot traffic underground. That history left the area with a walkable, storefront character rather than a office tower district, which suits a practice built around real estate transactions, family matters, and estate planning for people who live and shop in the neighbourhood.

Being based in a residential village rather than downtown also fits the notarization and will and power of attorney work the firm advertises as fixed price services, the kind of routine legal paperwork a local resident is more likely to walk in for than to travel downtown to arrange.
