About Houser Henry & Syron LLP

Houser Henry & Syron LLP is a business law firm based in downtown Toronto. Its roots go back to June 1, 1934, when Ivan Clayton Harries and Gordon Albert Binkley opened Binkley & Harries at 36 Toronto Street, at the height of the Great Depression. After Binkley moved to the United States in 1944, the practice was renamed Binkley, Harries & Houser. It took its current name, Houser Henry & Syron LLP, on November 1, 1985.

The firm advises domestic and foreign mid-market business owners on corporate and commercial matters, buying and selling businesses, employment law, commercial real estate, and estate planning. It also works with foreign companies investing in Canada. HHS runs a paid summer program for law students each year, and several past summer students have returned to the firm as articling students and then associates.

The neighbourhood

The firm's office sits on the 16th floor of a tower at 145 King Street West in downtown Toronto. HHS describes the location as PATH-connected, meaning staff and clients can reach it through the underground walkway that links much of downtown Toronto without stepping outside.

The firm has stayed in the same King Street West building for years, recently moving to its current 16th floor suite from a higher floor. That kind of staying power fits a practice with roots going back to 1934.
