Kay & McCourt is a family law firm in Cobourg, Ontario, the seat of Northumberland County on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Greg Kay began practising law in Cobourg in 1980, working across family law, estate litigation, employment law, property and contract disputes, personal injury claims, and criminal law. Kady McCourt joined the practice, and on October 1, 2019 the two opened the firm as Kay & McCourt. Since January 1, 2024, Kay has served as counsel, advising the other lawyers rather than carrying an active caseload.
McCourt studied at the University of Ottawa before completing a law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 2013 in the top five percent of the class with awards in Restitution and Commercial Law. Called to the Ontario bar in June 2014, McCourt has acted since 2016 as an agent for the Office of the Children's Lawyer, representing children and minor parents in custody and access disputes, child protection proceedings, and adoptions. Julian Woodward, who studied at Ontario Tech University and the University of Ottawa's law school, articled at the firm from 2022 and joined as an associate after being called to the bar in June 2023, and now accepts Legal Aid certificates in family law and child protection matters.
