John G. Cox Family Law is a family law firm based in Oakville, Ontario, at 277 Lakeshore Road East. John G. Cox founded the practice in 1990, three years after being called to the Bar of Ontario in 1987. Cox holds an LL.B. and a B.Ed. with Distinction from the University of Alberta and a B.A. from Trent University, and is a Certified Ontario Family Law Arbitrator. While building the firm, Cox also served part time as an Assistant Crown Attorney for Halton Region from 1991 to 2002 and later sat as a Deputy Judge of the Halton Small Claims Court from 2003 to 2009.

The practice is limited entirely to family law. Cox now works alongside associates Alex Ogilvie, Natalie Bazar, Nancy DiChiara, and Johnnie Cox on separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, property division, and domestic contracts, along with mediation and arbitration. A recurring focus for the firm is complex, high-net-worth family disputes, including offshore asset tracing and matters touching on family owned corporations and trusts. One lawyer at the firm was commended by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in a 2024 family law decision for organizing and distilling voluminous evidence. Cox is also a musician who has performed in a band that started at Trent University more than fifty years ago.
