About Yameena

Yameena Ansari is the founder and principal lawyer of Ansari Immigration Law in Calgary. She is licensed to practice law in Ontario, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories, and her practice focuses on permanent residency applications, family sponsorship and spousal visas, asylum and refugee claims, work permits, study permits, and visitor visas. She earned her law degree from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, where she developed a focus on immigration law. Ansari received the Woman Who Inspires award from the Canadian Council of Muslim Women for her leadership. Since November 2023 she has focused advocacy efforts on immigration reform for Gazans affected by the crisis in Gaza, founding the Gaza Family Reunification Project and helping lead a petition that resulted in expanded federal immigration measures. She has published in the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association News, The Lawyer's Daily, and the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies, and is fluent in English, French, and Urdu.
