About Will
Will Tao is the founding principal lawyer of Heron Law Offices, with over a decade of experience in Canadian immigration and refugee law. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2015 and holds a JD from the University of Ottawa and an LLM from the University of British Columbia's Allard School of Law. His practice covers complex applications, refusals, inadmissibility matters, appeals, and judicial reviews, with particular focus on international students, families, and temporary foreign workers, and he regularly appears before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court of Canada. In December 2024 he testified before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration on reforms to the International Student Program. He founded the Vancouver Immigration Blog and has received the Canadian Bar Association's Founder's Award and multiple Clawbies Awards for legal writing.
