About Waheeda
Waheeda Ekhlas Smith is a Toronto employment lawyer who represents both employees and employers, practising as WES Law Professional Corporation. Before becoming a lawyer, Smith worked for several years as a legal assistant, starting at age 18. Smith has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Labour Relations Board and Small Claims Court, and has experience with examinations for discovery, mediations, pre-trials and motions. Smith earned a JD from the University of Windsor in 2012, receiving academic awards in Civil Procedure and Constitutional Litigation, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours French Language and Literature) from the University of Western Ontario in 2009, graduating on the Dean's Honour List. Smith serves as a Director at the Toronto Lawyers Association, previously served as a Director at the North York Women's Shelter, and volunteers as a Pro Bono Ontario lawyer. Smith has spoken and published on employment law topics for the Toronto Lawyers Association, the Globe and Mail and the Lawyer's Daily.
