About Vokhid

Vokhid Urinov practises as Special Counsel with Advotax Law, advising on complex tax disputes, tax planning and tax compliance, and practises in association with the firm as an independent contractor. He is also an Associate Professor of tax law at the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law. He holds a Ph.D. in tax law from McGill University, an LL.M. in Finance from Frankfurt University in Germany, and an LL.B. from Tashkent State University of Law in Uzbekistan, and completed a research exchange at Nagoya University in Japan. He previously worked with the Tax & Legal group at PwC Germany in Frankfurt, advising on cross-border real estate tax issues. His research focuses on cross-border tax compliance, foreign-source income taxation, Canada's general anti-avoidance rule, and base erosion and profit shifting, and he has published a book in the IBFD Doctoral Series and contributed a chapter to a Canadian tax law textbook. He provides services in English and Uzbek and has working knowledge of Russian, German and Japanese.
