About Vanessa

Vanessa Gauthier has been a partner at Northpoint Legal since 2014 and has over 30 years' experience as a trial lawyer, practising in Newfoundland, Australia, and British Columbia. She started her career in personal injury, family law, and wills and estates, and served as legal counsel for the Workplace Health Safety & Compensation Commission in Newfoundland and Labrador, gaining experience in risk management and workplace accident claims in mining, transportation, manufacturing, and retail. She has since developed broad insurance litigation expertise, representing plaintiffs, defendants, insurers, and insureds, and has expanded her practice into mediation. Gauthier holds an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick (1994) and a B.A. from St. Francis Xavier University (1991), and was called to the bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1995, in Western Australia and New South Wales in 2006, and in British Columbia in 2010. She has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation.
