About Valerie

Valerie Feltz handles family law matters for SMT Lawyers out of the Fernie office, serving the East Kootenays. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she started as a criminal defence lawyer with the Metropolitan Public Defender in 2012, conducting close to thirty jury trials on charges ranging from assault to murder. She moved to Fernie in 2019 and completed the accreditation and licensing process to practise in BC, shifting her focus to family law. She regularly appears before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia on matters involving parenting, guardianship, and support.
