About Tony

Tony Wilson, K.C. is a retired, non-practising member of Embarq Law who remains available for franchise consultations. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1986 and practised for almost four decades in franchising, licensing, and intellectual property law, regularly ranked among Canada's leading franchise lawyers by Lexpert, Who's Who Legal, and Best Lawyers in Canada. From 2014 to 2016 he served as a special advisor to the BC Ministry of the Attorney General and helped draft the province's Franchises Act and Regulations. He is the author of 'Buying a Franchise in Canada' and 'Manage Your Online Reputation,' and has been an Adjunct Professor at Thompson Rivers University Law School. Tony has been a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia since 2012 and was appointed King's Counsel in 2016. He holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and an LL.B. from the University of Victoria.
