About Theresa

Theresa Donkor is Rudnicki & Company's senior associate, practising criminal defence with a focus on appeals from conviction and sentence. She has argued cases at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and regularly appears before the Supreme Court of Canada, and she is recognized in Best Lawyers Canada's Ones to Watch list. She also represents complainants in sexual offence cases, helping them apply to protect their private records and assert their rights during trial. Fighting systemic racism is central to her work, and she has successfully argued for reduced sentences and overturned convictions on the basis of racial bias in the justice system. Theresa frequently speaks to national media outlets about racial and social justice issues and has made submissions to the Canadian Senate on proposed legislation. She serves as Director of Advocacy for the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and sits on the board of Eva's Initiatives for Homeless Youth.
