Gillian Shearer is a founding partner of Shearer Parnega LLP and an experienced workplace investigator, mediator, and human rights and employment lawyer. She was admitted to practise law in Ontario in February 2002. After practising as an associate at a labour and employment boutique and a global law firm, she moved into in-house roles, most recently serving as Ethics and Privacy Officer for one of the world's largest nuclear facilities, where she oversaw Code of Conduct investigations in a heavily unionized environment. She has conducted over 1,000 workplace investigations covering theft, fraud, harassment, poisoned work environment, conflict of interest and workplace violence, and has trained HR professionals and front-line managers on conducting proper investigations. She authored the book "The Law and Practice of Workplace Investigations" (Emond Publishing, 2016) and has written articles and presented on workplace investigation topics, including for the Ontario Bar Association.
