About Susanne

Susanne M. Sviergula focuses her practice at Cavanagh LLP on insurance litigation, defending professional liability claims against lawyers and medical professionals, and employment law. She represents both institutional and individual clients and works to develop an effective litigation strategy for each. Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, she moved to Ottawa in 1990 to study at the University of Ottawa before earning her law degree at the University of Windsor, and she volunteered at a legal aid clinic throughout law school, becoming its Resource Director in her final year. Before joining Cavanagh LLP she practiced with an established Ottawa litigation firm, primarily in personal injury. She has spoken for and moderated sessions with the Ontario Bar Association and the County of Carleton Law Association, served on the executive of the OBA's Young Lawyers' Division in Ottawa, and co-chairs the CCLA's Education Committee, and she volunteers as a mentor for law students at the University of Ottawa. She practices in English and French, earned her LL.B. from the University of Windsor in 1999 and a B.Soc.Sci. (Hons) from the University of Ottawa in 1994, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001.
