About Matthew
Matthew E. Taft joined Cavanagh LLP in 2022 after practicing as a litigator for several years with a full-service firm in Kingston. He is a trial and appeals lawyer who has represented clients in all levels of court in Ontario, assisting individuals, businesses, municipalities, and insurers with insurance litigation, professional liability, contract and commercial disputes, and negligence and tort claims, including personal injury and fatality claims. He obtained his master's degree and law degree from Queen's University and has served on several corporate, institutional, and not-for-profit boards and committees in health care, education, social services, and environmental sectors. He holds a J.D. from Queen's University (2016), an M.P.A. from Queen's University (2013), and a B.Sc. (Hons.) from Trent University (2011), and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2017. Before becoming a lawyer he lived in the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
