About Sumra

Sumra Mahmood has substantial court experience as a criminal lawyer in Vancouver, defending cases at all judicial levels and conducting thorough investigations to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each file. She articled and practiced for several years with a prominent criminal trial and appellate counsel before being called to the bar in 2018, and has worked on transnational criminal matters including Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Act applications, extradition cases, and white-collar cross-border investigations. She received her law degree from the University of Victoria after a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology at Simon Fraser University, and has volunteered with Pivot Legal Society, West Coast LEAF, the BC Civil Liberties Association, Elizabeth Fry, and Megaphone Magazine. She speaks Urdu and has a working understanding of Hindi and Punjabi.
