About Stephen

Stephen Pincus is counsel at Goodmans, focusing on Canada's capital markets. He received the first-ever Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year award from IFLR1000 Canada. Stephen has led legal teams on numerous IPOs and on significant public and private mergers and acquisitions across a range of sectors. He's been part of several Canadian firsts, including the country's first cross-border income fund, first cross-border REIT, and first cross-border SPAC. As a pioneer of several SPAC structures, Stephen has served as lead counsel on most of Canada's SPAC transactions to date. He counsels company boards and activist investors on governance matters and proxy contests, and Industry Canada once retained him to lead a major governance study.
