About Stephen

Stephen D. Holmes focuses on cross-border tax for business people, securities, business and estate planning law, with international clients ranging from governments and trusts to banks and entrepreneurs. He holds a TEP designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has lectured and written extensively in Europe, Asia and North America on tax, estate planning, immigration and corporate governance. He previously practiced with two of Canada's largest firms, ran his own internationally recognized firm, and served as global VP of a large international legal network. At Synergy, he assists clients with tax planning through non-resident corporations, tax treaties and changes of residency, negotiates the sale of private companies, and helps business owners with intellectual property protection, employment contracts, shareholders agreements and holding companies. He is an Honorary Consul of Malta and speaks Spanish, and has represented Canada at the Triathlon World Championship, served as president of Triathlon Canada, and been a member of the Canadian Olympic Committee.
