About Shumaila Shoukat

Shumaila Shoukat is an associate lawyer at Sage Law Group in Barrie, and family law is the centre of the practice. The work covers parenting arrangements, support and child protection, and Shumaila also takes on cases where domestic violence is an issue.

Shumaila has practised law both internationally and in Canada, with more than six years of practice abroad and more than five years of Canadian experience. The call to the Ontario bar came in 2018, and since 2024 Shumaila has also been a member of the Law Society of the Northwest Territories.

In court, Shumaila has acted for clients in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, through trials and urgent motions alike. Shumaila's approach pairs careful preparation and strong advocacy with a focus on solutions, and the commitment is to keep the safety, stability and best interests of the children involved front and centre.

Shumaila is a parent too, and knows how personal and emotionally hard a family law matter can be.
