She earned a Bachelor of Management with Honours from the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus, making the Dean's Honour Roll, and spent time working in finance and human resources prior to attending law school. Shannon subsequently earned her Juris Doctor with distinction at the University of Alberta, competing in two national moot competitions and volunteering at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre along the way.
