About Shane

Shane Rayman is a founding partner of Rayman Harris LLP whose practice centres on expropriations law and property rights litigation, along with commercial litigation, regulatory and administrative matters, and professional negligence and discipline cases. He was senior counsel for the Appellant in Antrim Truck Centre v. Ministry of Transportation, in which the Supreme Court of Canada ruled unanimously in his client's favour, and he later acted as counsel for an intervenor in Annapolis Group v. Halifax and City of St. John's v. Lynch before the same court. Shane earned a BA in Economics from York University in 1996 and his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999, where he won the Matthew Wilson Memorial Scholarship for placing third in his graduating class. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001 and represents roughly 350 expropriated owners across Ontario. He is a past president of the Ontario Expropriation Association and has served as a director since 2006, and he is the Canadian member of the Owners' Counsel of America. Best Lawyers named him Lawyer of the Year in Expropriation Law for both 2023 and 2025.
