About Shane
Shane McGurk is a partner at MJM LLP whose practice covers insurance defence and construction, engineering and energy disputes. He acts for national and global insurers, brokerage firms and self-insured corporations on coverage disputes, subrogated claims and the defence of insured parties, and also represents owners, contractors, project managers and design professionals on construction disputes, builders' liens, surety issues and delay claims. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws (with distinction) in 1999, receiving several academic prizes including the Margaret Hypatia Crawford and Carswell Canada Prize. He was admitted to the Alberta and Manitoba bars in 2000 and has practiced in Calgary since then, appearing before all levels of court in both provinces. He has lectured at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law on Commercial General Liability Policies of Insurance and previously served on the editorial board of the Risk Management Counsel of Canada.
