About Sara
Sara Premi has been with Sullivan Mahoney LLP since her articles in 1992 and now chairs the firm's Municipal Law Practice Group. Her practice centers on municipal and land use matters as well as administrative and regulatory law, and she regularly appears before municipal councils and committees, the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Superior Court, and Provincial Offences Court. Sara has extensive Provincial Offences Court experience on both sides, defending clients against planning, heritage, environmental, and occupational health and safety charges while also prosecuting municipal by-law and provincial offences under statutes such as the Planning Act and the Building Code Act for several municipalities. She has broad experience drafting by-laws and advising on municipal governance, licensing, and freedom of information legislation, and has represented major public agencies at numerous Coroner's Inquests. Earlier in her career, Sara served as a federal prosecutor for the Attorney General of Canada for six years, and she spent five years as a part-time instructor of Environmental Law at Niagara College. She earned her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1992 and was called to the bar in 1994.
