About Banister & Company

Banister & Company is a civil litigation firm in downtown Vancouver focused on labour, employment, and personal injury law. The firm is led by Sandra Banister, K.C., admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1982 after a Supreme Court clerkship, who has practiced labour law and civil litigation, with an emphasis on employment and personal injury law, for over 35 years. Banister was designated Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel) in 2011. On the labour side, the firm represents trade unions rather than employers, for clients ranging from small locals to national unions in sectors such as forestry, mining, marine transportation, and post secondary education, before arbitrators and boards including the BC Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal.

Associate Jeremy Bryant joined the firm in 2017 after articling there, holding a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia's Peter A. Allard School of Law (2016) and, before law school, a term as provincial first vice president of the BC Ferry and Marine Workers' Union. Bryant practices labour and employment law before boards including the Canada Industrial Relations Board and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal. The firm's personal injury work covers claims from soft tissue injuries to brain and spinal cord injuries, including ICBC claims, and its civil litigation practice extends to product liability and class action proceedings.
