About Safiya
Safiya Dossa is an associate at Shikhman Barristers. Before pursuing law, she spent time on Parliament Hill as a legislative analyst, where she advised senators on the Cannabis Act and began developing the statutory-drafting skills she later applied to courtroom advocacy. She completed a dual Canadian and American law degree through the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy, graduating with Honours, and was called to the Ontario bar in 2022. Her practice is concentrated on sexual offence allegations, domestic assault cases, and youth justice matters, areas where she brings particular care given the serious consequences these charges carry for clients. While studying at Windsor Law, she ran the school's Innocence Project and assisted the Dean of Law as a research assistant.
