Ryan E. Durran is a criminal defence barrister in Ottawa, representing clients in criminal, quasi-criminal, and regulatory matters. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Ottawa before earning a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He spent two summers with the Ministry of the Attorney General's Crown Law Office - Criminal, working on trials and appeals up to the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada, and prosecuted Provincial Offences Act and Highway Traffic Act matters. After articling with a criminal litigation firm in Toronto, he was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2019. His trial practice covers charges ranging from assault and impaired driving to major fraud, criminal conspiracy, and murder, and his appellate work has taken him before the Summary Conviction Court of Appeal, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
