About Risa

Risa Awerbuck is a partner and co-chair of the firm's Wills, Trusts & Estates Group. She advises individuals and multi-generational families on estate planning and administration, trusts, tax matters, wills, powers of attorney and business succession. Her clients range from individuals transferring assets to future generations to financial institutions. She often works through complicated family dynamics, including family members with special needs or those living outside Canada. Risa collaborates closely with colleagues in corporate, tax, family law and estate litigation to coordinate planning for her clients. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988 and earned her LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1986. She is recognized as a leading lawyer in Trusts & Estates by Best Lawyers in Canada.
