About Richard

Richard Niedermayer is a partner at Stewart McKelvey in Halifax, practising in estates, trusts, tax and corporate law. He works primarily with individuals and owner-managed and family businesses on complex estate plans, tax-planned corporate reorganizations, and the administration of international estates with assets in multiple jurisdictions. He was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1995, after earning an LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1994 and a BA from St. Francis Xavier University in 1991. Richard has held numerous leadership roles with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Canada, including chair and deputy chair, and was appointed King's Counsel in 2021. He has been repeatedly recognized by Best Lawyers and Lexpert for his trusts, estates and corporate work.
