About Richard
Richard Arezes is a partner and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group at WeirFoulds LLP. His practice covers acquisitions, dispositions, development, and financing of commercial real estate, and he is often called on to structure joint ventures, partnerships, and co-ownership arrangements. Richard acts for lenders, private and publicly traded corporations, municipalities, and large retail and commercial enterprises on high-value deals such as master-planned communities, hospitality acquisitions, multi-family portfolios, and industrial financings. Among his notable transactions are the roughly $130 million purchase of the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Toronto Pearson and a $360 million financing of a multi-property REIT portfolio. He works closely with in-house counsel and internal real estate teams to tailor solutions to each client's business goals. Richard was called to the Ontario bar in 2010 and holds a J.D. from the University of Western Ontario and a B.B.A. (Hons.) from Wilfrid Laurier University.
