About Rebecca

Rebecca Thompson is a lawyer in Taylor Janis's Edmonton office practicing labour, employment, and human rights law, representing both individual and union clients in grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, mediation, and dispute resolution. Before joining Taylor Janis, she spent close to a decade in-house with one of Canada's largest unions, working in Yellowknife and Ottawa, and practiced general civil litigation and family law at a small firm in Leduc, Alberta. She has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, and tribunals including the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal and the Canada Industrial Relations Board. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta (2004) and a Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University (2012), and is completing a Master of Laws in Labour Relations and Employment Law at Osgoode Professional Development. She was called to the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Ontario in 2012, and speaks fluent French.
