Blain's practice is primarily focused on family law and mediation, and includes drafting wills, personal directives, and powers of attorney, and applying for probate or a grant of administration. Blain has litigated personal injury and other civil matters and has appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Court of King's Bench, and the Alberta Court of Appeal. Blain was a staff mediator for the Alberta Justice Family Mediation Program at the Calgary Courts Centre and has assisted in litigating sexual and physical assault claims in the Independent Assessment Process. Blain holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Ambrose University and a Master of Arts in English Literature and Film from the University of Alberta. Blain volunteers with the Calgary Reads Big Book Sale and serves on the board of Radiance Family Society, a second-stage domestic violence shelter in Calgary.
