About Ramon

Ramon Andal is a senior counsel at MMW with a career spanning over 35 years. His commercial insurance practice covers directors and officers liability, construction litigation, professional negligence, financial institutions, environmental law, coverage disputes, and marine and aviation law. In 1989 he became the first Filipino Canadian lawyer to practice at a major Toronto firm, joining alongside MMW's founding partners. He has served as Contributing Editor of Insurance Law in Canada and the Insurance Title of the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest, and helped found the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers in 2007. Ramon currently serves as a Part-Time Vice-Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal and previously sat as a Lawyer Member of the Board of Inquiry under the Police Services Act, the Consent and Capacity Board, and the Social Security Tribunal. He was recognized by the Law Society of Ontario's Lawyers Make History Project as an Early and Exceptional Ontario Lawyer of Filipino Heritage. Ramon earned his LLB from Western University in 1987, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines in 1981, and a BA from Ateneo De Manila University in 1977.
