About Rachael

Rachael Walsh is an associate counsel at Island Law Office. Born on Vancouver Island, she moved to England for her law degree, earned from Plymouth University in 2012, and developed an early interest in capital defence work, including an internship with the Office of Capital Defence in Jackson, Mississippi and a position as a Mitigation Specialist with the Georgia Capital Defender in Athens, Georgia, where she represented more than a dozen capital defendants. She has lectured at universities and conferences in England and the US, including Oxford and the University of Georgia. After returning to Vancouver Island, she worked with a local restorative justice program before becoming a lawyer in BC.
