About Peter

Peter J. Beardsworth was called to the bar in 1975 and has practised law for over 40 years, working both as a sole practitioner and as senior partner in a mid-sized firm. His practice centred on civil litigation, with experience in fatal accident claims, personal injury, commercial and contract litigation, property litigation, employment law, estate law, and family law, and he has appeared before courts and tribunals throughout New Brunswick as well as the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Commission. In the later years of his practice he moved toward mediation, and from 2007 to 2009 he completed the Certificate in Interest Based Mediation through the Centre of Conflict Studies at the University of Prince Edward Island. He is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, having served on its Council from 1992 to 1994, and of the Canadian Bar Association, and has also served on the New Brunswick Law Society's Insurance Management Committee since 1992 and with Family Mediation Canada since 2009.
