About Paul
Paul Moreau, K.C., is a criminal defence lawyer based in Edmonton who practises across Alberta. He graduated from the University of Alberta law school in 1988 and articled with a general-practice firm before joining the Alberta Justice Department as a Crown Prosecutor in Wetaskiwin. He later worked as Appellate Counsel for the Attorney General of Alberta, representing the Crown before the Supreme Court of Canada and the Alberta Court of Appeal, and served as President of the Alberta Crown Attorneys Association from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he practised civil litigation with Witten Binder in Edmonton, and since 2001 he has focused on criminal defence at trial and appeal levels. Moreau completed a Master of Laws in Criminal Law at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2016 and served as President of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association from 2023 to 2025. He has been a sessional instructor teaching Sentencing Law at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law since 2017.
