He graduated on the Dean's Honor List (Top 10, Class of '88) with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University. He is a full-time member of the Law Society of Alberta and British Columbia and was appointed Queen's Counsel in January 2008.
