Patricia Brown is a barrister and solicitor licensed to practice law in Ontario, Canada and the State of Michigan. She practices criminal defence, mental health law, and immigration law, and appears before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Consent and Capacity Board, and the Ontario Review Board. She earned bachelor's degrees in family and social relations and in psychology from the University of Windsor, then completed her Juris Doctorate at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Brown is a committed advocate in mental health law, drawing on prior professional experience in the mental health care sector, and represents clients on matters including capacity assessments, involuntary treatment, and admission to long-term care. She volunteers training frontline workers and law enforcement in crisis intervention and has served on boards focused on women's services and healthcare access, and is also a legal commentator in local and national media.
