Noel C. O'Brien, K.C. is a partner at O'Brien Devlin MacLeod in Calgary, practicing criminal defence exclusively. Noel graduated as gold medalist from the University of Windsor Law School in 1976 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1994. Noel has lectured on Advanced Criminal Law for more than ten years at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law and has served as defence counsel in more than 80 murder cases, many resulting in acquittals. Noel has extensive trial and appellate experience across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Newfoundland, as well as before the Supreme Court of Canada, and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Noel is an Advocacy Advisor with the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute and has authored a chapter in the book 'Tough Crimes,' a collection of stories by Canada's leading criminal lawyers.
