About Nancy
Nancy Merrill has more than 30 years of experience as a barrister, advocate, and mediator in family law, civil litigation, and wills and estates. She was called to the bar in Ontario and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, and previously served as president of the Law Society of British Columbia and as its first woman Bencher elected in Nanaimo County. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo, a law degree from the University of Windsor, where she received the Access to Justice designation, and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. She has served as a full-term governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia and has taught as a lecturer at Royal Roads University and a sessional family law instructor at the University of Victoria. Nancy is a certified family law mediator and arbitrator through the Law Society of British Columbia, and her practice today is focused on mediation and arbitration in civil matters, along with estate planning. Earlier in her career she worked as a federal prosecutor in Windsor, Ontario, on customs and immigration matters, and was the first female Canada Customs Intelligence Officer in Canada.
