About Michaela

Michaela Atherton is a criminal defence lawyer who joined Barefoot Law in 2021 after running her own practice in Port Elgin. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in 2012 and a Juris Doctor from Western Law in 2019. She is a member of the Criminal Lawyers' Association, the Bruce County Law Association, the Grey County Law Association, and Women in Canadian Criminal Defence, and volunteers with organizations including Coldest Night of the Year, Grey-Bruce Pride, Summerfolk, and Habitat for Humanity. Her practice covers bail hearings, bail reviews, trials, sentencing, preliminary hearings, and related applications in the Walkerton and Owen Sound courts, and she accepts Legal Aid certificates on the Criminal and Gladue panels.
