About Michael

Michael Spratt is a partner at AGP LLP and a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law with a broad criminal litigation practice before all levels of court, from simple assaults to complex murder trials. He was called to the bar in 2005 after attending Dalhousie University law school and articling at Hicks Block Adams in Toronto. He frequently appears as an expert witness before the House of Commons and Senate on criminal-law policy and legislation, and received the Senate 150th Anniversary Medal in 2018 for his work on Canadian policy. He has been named to the Best Lawyers list as a criminal law specialist every year from 2021 through 2026 and was named one of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in 2020 by Canadian Lawyer. Michael has served as a director, treasurer, and vice-president of local criminal defence associations, co-hosts the legal podcast The Docket, and has guest lectured at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and Algonquin College.
